Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of these terms
By using SecurePDFNow (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. What the Service is
SecurePDFNow provides free, browser-based utilities for protecting PDF files with a password and permission restrictions (AES-256 encryption), for unlocking PDFs by removing restriction settings, for compressing, merging and splitting PDF files, and for converting images to PDF. All processing happens locally in your browser; files are never uploaded to our servers and no document is stored on a backend server.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results will meet your requirements. Always keep your original files — you are responsible for verifying any output before relying on it.
3. Acceptable use
- Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all laws that apply to you.
- Do not process files that you do not have the right to use, copy or modify, or that infringe anyone’s copyright, privacy or other rights.
- Do not use the Service to create or distribute illegal, harmful, infringing or malicious content.
- Do not attempt to abuse, overload, disrupt, scrape, reverse-engineer for the purpose of attack, or otherwise interfere with the Service or its hosting infrastructure.
- Do not circumvent usage limits or other technical restrictions through automated or abusive behaviour.
We may restrict or block access to the Service if we reasonably believe these terms have been violated.
4. Your files and your responsibilities
You keep all rights to the files you process. Because processing happens in your browser, we never receive your files and cannot back them up, restore them or recover them. You are solely responsible for keeping your own copies.
5. Intellectual property
The Service itself — including its website, design, text, code and the SecurePDFNow name — is owned by the operator and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms do not grant you any right to copy, redistribute or resell the Service or its content, except as necessary to use the Service normally in a browser.
Third-party libraries used by the Service (for example, open-source PDF libraries) remain the property of their respective authors and are used under their own licences.
6. Third-party content and advertising
The site may display third-party advertising and may link to external websites. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, products or practices. Your dealings with advertisers or external sites are solely between you and them.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of SecurePDFNow shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, files, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. The Service is free of charge; accordingly, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to use it, which is zero.
8. Changes to the Service and to these terms
We may add, change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, including free usage limits. These terms may also be updated; the effective date at the top of this page shows the latest revision. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This clause applies to the interpretation of these terms and to disputes about the Service itself.
It does not, and cannot, exclude rules of law that apply to you whatever law is chosen here. If you are a consumer, you keep every mandatory right granted to you by the law of your country of residence — including, where applicable, mandatory consumer-protection rules in the EU/EEA and your rights under data-protection law such as the GDPR. Nothing in this section, and nothing in section 7 (Limitation of liability), removes or limits those rights.
